About Membership Services
I'm a member and did not
receive my monthly programming guide. How do I get one?
-
Active members at the
$35 and above level ($25 for senior citizens) receive a monthly
program guide. If you did not receive your guide, please email your
request to member@kvie.org.
Be sure to include your name, address, and phone number with your
request.
I'm a member and need to
report a change of address. Can I request the change by email?
Why haven't I received a
tax receipt for my contribution?
I made a pledge, sent in
my donation, but I haven't received my thank you gift yet. What happened?
-
For most "thank
you" gifts you should allow 4-6 weeks after your donation is
received by KVIE. Sometimes "thank you" gifts take longer
for several reasons. The most common reason is that some "thank
you" gifts are exclusive to PBS stations and will only be manufactured
after the demand has been determined. Also, as a non-profit, KVIE
has neither the capacity nor the financial capability to pre-order
inventory. Orders for "thank-you" gifts are placed within
days of your pledge. If there is a significant delay beyond the
normal 4-6 weeks we will notify you.
KVIE was offering a "thank
you" gift I would like to buy, rather than make a pledge. Can I
do that?
What phone number can I call
to make a pledge?
I saw a program on KVIE Channel
6 and I would like to obtain a copy of it. Can I buy a copy from KVIE?

About Our Pledge Drives
Why does KVIE Channel 6 have
pledge drives?
-
KVIE relies on support
from members in order to accomplish our mission. Our membership
drives replenish our membership ranks, replacing those who have
moved , passed away, or are no longer able to support us. This is
one of the most effective methods we have of raising funds. Membership
accounts for over 50% of KVIE's revenue. Of that revenue, our on-air
pledge drives contribute about half of the membership revenue at
a very cost effective rate.

FAQ's
About Our Programming and Broadcasting
KVIE has changed the schedule
so that my favorite show(s) is not on or not on at a time that is reasonable.
Why has KVIE done that?
-
It is our objective to
serve the largest possible audience in the community within our
mission of educational programming. To do so sometimes means discontinuing
a program or rescheduling it to a different time slot. In recent
years programming changes have occurred primarily as a result of
small audiences, the cost of broadcasting rights, or the loss of
broadcast rights to other networks, mainly cable networks.
I'm concerned about the types
of programs KVIE broadcasts. I feel the programs are biased to one side
of the political spectrum. If KVIE is a public television station why
are the programs so one-sided?
-
As a provider of a valuable
public service, we strive to include all segments of society in
what we broadcast, and do so objectively. It is never our intent
to favor one point of view over another. Our intent is to provide
programming that represents a wide array of subjects and viewpoints
all within our mission. Over time you'll find balance in our program
schedule.
Is there a place other than
the daily newspaper where I can get a listing of programs?
I saw a program on KVIE Channel
6 and I would like to obtain a copy of it. Can I get (buy) a copy from
KVIE?
What is Cable 7/KVIE2?
-
KVIE2 is an additional
channel of KVIE that is available to customers of Comcast in Sacramento
County and SureWest. The channel is funded in part by a grant from
the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission. Other channels funded by the commission include Access Sacramento, MetroCable, and SECC. KVIE2
is also available over the air on KVIE's digital service KVIE-DT2
and is also carried in most parts of Comcast's service area on Comcast
Digital cable channel 190.
FAQ's
About Supporting KVIE
Is there a way I can help
KVIE monthly rather than one large payment?
-
There are two easy ways
to support KVIE monthly - through our Easy Chex plan or a monthly
billing to your VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.
For the Easy Chex plan you simply complete an authorization to transfer
the monthly contribution from your checking account and return it
with your first month's contribution. For an Easy Chex authorization
form or to initiate monthly charge contributions call 1-800-648-1292.
To charge your contribution monthly, all you need to do is call
us with your charge number and the amount you wish to contribute
each month.
I'd like to volunteer at
KVIE. Who can I call to inquire about the volunteering opportunities
at KVIE?
-
Throughout the year volunteers
help KVIE in many ways. Your life's experience, skill, knowledge,
and time are valuable to us. There are a variety of talents we can
use in a number of areas of the station - accounting, production,
facilities, fundraising, membership support to name a few. Plus,
during pledge drives our phone banks are staffed with community-minded
organizations and individuals who help us meet our goals. It is
a chance to meet and work with friends and neighbors who all believe
in quality television. If you would like to be a volunteer at KVIE, please call 916-641-3593.
I would like to support KVIE
in my will. Do I need to contact somebody for that?
-
If KVIE has enriched
your life in a special way, increased your enjoyment of the arts,
expanded your appreciation of science and nature, or nurtured your
children or grandchildren, you may wish to acknowledge this through
a planned gift. Through your will you may specify a dollar amount,
a property, or a percentage of your estate. Gifts made through wills
are one of the most popular forms of bequests. For more information
about gift planning, please call 916-641-3596 or email majordonors@kvie.org.
Also visit our online information on planned giving.
I'm a supporter of KVIE and
the company I work for (or retired from) will match all or some of my
charitable contributions. Does KVIE have a form to send me so the company
can match my gift?
-
Matching gifts are an
excellent way to increase your support of public television here
in the Central Valley. We accept company matching gift forms. Simply
have your completed form sent to us at: KVIE, P.O. Box 669, Sacramento,
CA 95812. If you have any questions or need a list of Matching Gift
companies please call 800-648-1292 or you may email your request
to member@kvie.org. Be sure to include your name, address, and phone
number with your request.
I'm a teacher and would appreciate
advance knowledge of certain types of programs so that I can include
the program in my curriculum. Where can I get information about upcoming
programs?
-
You can get connected
online at http://www.pbs.org/teachers
with PBS Teachers. It is one of the most comprehensive web
sites ever created for pre K-12 educators. Integrating curriculum,
professional development and community resources, PBS Teachers
aggregates the services PBS and KVIE provide educators
and helps teachers learn effective ways to incorporate video and
the Web in the classroom.
