A wise approach to sharing your personal values.
Did you know that retirement plans and accounts funded with pre-tax earnings are often subject to taxes? By making a gift of your retirement benefits to PBS KVIE, your charitable wishes for our community can be fulfilled with greater ease and efficiency.

Give from your IRA to satisfy your Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
If you are age 73 or older, you must start taking Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from your qualified retirement plans. You can make a transfer to PBS KVIE and satisfy your required minimum distribution while supporting the programs you love.
Give a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA
A QCD is a transfer of funds from your IRA payable directly to a qualified charity. You can make a transfer to PBS KVIE and satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD), as long as you meet the requirements:
- You must be age 70 1/2 or older.
- The maximum annual amount for 2024 is $105,000. This applies to the sum of all QCDs you transfer in the calendar year.
- For the QCD to count toward your current year RMD, funds must be received by PBS KVIE by December 31.
- Funds must be transferred by the IRA custodian direct to PBS KVIE.
Add PBS KVIE as an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b) Beneficiary
The SECURE Act of 2019 established new rules for inherited IRAs. Beginning January 1, 2020, most non-spouse beneficiaries, including adult children and grandchildren, are now required to withdraw the full balance of the account within 10 years of inheritance. Prior to this, beneficiaries could "stretch" the distributions and tax obligations over their lifetime.
By naming PBS KVIE as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k) and/or 403(b), you will be assured that every dollar will be used for a charitable purpose and shielded from income or estate taxes. You can then work with your advisors to identify other assets that are better suited to leave to your loved ones.
Another great benefit of naming PBS KVIE as a beneficiary of your retirement assets is this option avoids the possible delays and various costs associated with probate administration.
